Former National Football League star Antonio Brown is heading to Miami to face an attempted murder accusation stemming from a gunfire that happened in May, with his lawyer filing a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Detention logs in Essex County, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was freed on Tuesday early for his move to Florida. Brown, a highly popular players in the NFL, had relinquished extradition to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was taken after being arrested in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an email that he has earlier submitted a documented not guilty plea to the attempted murder charge. Brown could be in a Miami court as early as Wednesday early for a bail proceeding, Eiglarsh stated.

As per his apprehension warrant, Brown is accused of seizing a pistol from a protection guard after a star boxing contest in May and shooting two bullets at a person he had confronted with before. The claimed individual, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to authorities that one of the bullets grazed his nape.

Eiglarsh stated that Brown was simply defending himself from Nantambu.

“The actions he was compelled to take were purely in self-defense against the reported person’s hostile actions. Brown was attacked that time and behaved within his rightful privilege to protect himself,” Eiglarsh stated.

Brown was not right away apprehended because initially officers did not consider Nantambu as a victim. It only afterward in May that Nantambu provided a detailed account about the situation to authorities and identified Brown as the perpetrator, the affidavit states.
