Prince William Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in South America
Prince William plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in Brazil next month, as confirmed by palace sources.
Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a event leading up to the climate summit, which is scheduled to take place in the Amazonian city of Belém.
Father and son were participating in the museum gathering, marking an rare public appearance together at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.
Environmental Advocacy Commitment
King Charles has been a consistent supporter of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be taking place in South America ahead of the COP summit.
Official representatives have described the Prince's participation at the upcoming climate summit as stepping up an significant responsibility in "environmental negotiations".
Previous Activities
The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the official car, were welcomed guests including environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.
This participation featured addresses alongside President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.
Environmental Prize Link
The COP30 summit will align with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in the Brazilian city the day before he joins the COP summit on 6 November.
Last week the William described the award contenders as "heroes of our time".
Monarch's Environmental Record
King Charles has been a key figure at past COP meetings, giving the opening address in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".
"Throughout my life I've dedicated a significant amount of my life trying to warn of the critical dangers challenging our world over planetary heating, climate change and biodiversity loss," the monarch informed delegates.
